i feel like this time of year is pretty fun and everything but the columbus day sales just sneak up on us and we're not really sure what pieces we are ready to buy just yet. ya feel me on this one? like it's fall(ish) and that's great for plaid shirts, blazers and tall boots. but you probably already have those things from last year, right? well i'm right there with you. although i haven't completely moved all my fall clothes over just yet (i know, i know, i'll do it soon i promise), and i know that i have some pretty great pieces i can wear this fall too (that's why it's good to invest in great pieces). so anyways, on that note i put together a few of the pieces that i am dying to wear right now. like right now (cough, it's my bday on saturday, cough). and i want to be wearing / owning all of these gorgeous pieces to kick it off right. i mean, you only turn 28 once. haha 

after spending time in the windy city last weekend, i was loving all the capes, and just need to get my paws on some. you know how i'm addicted to leopard, and well, who doesn't just love the simplicity these clutches. oh and leather leggings, completely 100% obsessed. i want to wear them with loose cable knit sweaters all day every day. and what little lady doesn't love a great stud, love the deep plum of this pair. oh and speaking of colors, how to die are those fuchsia pumps. need them. a classic tan structured satchel is amazing. it's a great piece you can really carry all year long. oh this little zebra dish is just to cute. it can rest just on your night stand to hold your favorite rings. and these peep toe booties are pretty adorable and a fun piece for fall.

shopbop: coats

i'm loving the fact that it is october (not sure how though, wasn't july just yesterday?) and fall is basically in full sweep. i wanted to put together a fun little post about my favorite coat styles right now! 

first up i've got the classic black coat. if you don't have a black long coat, it's a must and you gotta get one. 

second was a trend that popped up last year that i'm still digging a lot, the plaid coat. you know this girl loves a good print, and what better than a bring fun plaid!? are you with me here?

third, is the pastel coat. i adore this light blue one and there's a few pastel coats roaming around too. i'm a fan of the irony of this trend. coats are for fall, pastels are for spring, and well, why not just mix them up and put them together. it's a great way to feel fresh in the dark chillier months for sure. 

and lastly the color block coat. i'm digging this one from madewell, and just love the statement it creates. the tan and black are classics that you will be able to wear with anything.

nyfw with shopbop

as you've rightfully assumed i have been stalking #nyfw for all the latest behind the scenes pics of all the shows, street style looks, and parties. so i thought i'd pair up with my trusty shopbop to put together some fabulous looks that are inspired by new york fashion week - with pieces you can buy right now. fun right!? 

well i've been extremely inspired by the crop top and midi skirt outfit, for sure. i've been playing with the crop top look and trying to figure out if there was a way i would wear it - what would it be. and for me, it would have to be loose and long (ya know, for a crop top). i'm not trying to show anything unflattering over here. geez. but i do love a good trend and making it your own is super fun. so i love the look of pairing a gorgeous crop top with a super feminine midi skirt. the lengths definitely play nicely together, don't ya think? ones a little short, the other a little long. see what i mean? it's a great trend to try on for a night out with the ladies or a gorgeous date night with your babe.

back to school style with shopbop

so i know that i'm not is school anymore (sad face) and my 10 year high school reunion is just around the corner, but i love back to school fashion. i think i love it because my grandma and i would always go pick out my back to school clothes together and would just have a ball! and since shopbop put together a great list of back to school styles i thought i put together a fun wish list of back to school pieces i wish i had too. 

1. a classic pair of dark wash skinny jeans are a must. this pair is the paige hoxton that i need in my closet asap

booties at shopbop

so last week's tres chic post was all about three ways to style booties right now, and today i thought i would show you my favorites at shop bop right now. first of all, i love booties and think they can be worn all the time. the height of the bootie for your build is everything. i have a thicker ankle and know that just like my waist the smallest part should be shown off to be the most flattering look. so for me it's the madewell billie boot. it hits me at my ankle just right. i recommend trying on every pair you can find just to see what looks the best on you and then picking out the right color and fabric. 

i love a good cognac pair for fall and this will look good with any outfit on a red head or a brunette with red undertones in their hair (aka me), it balances out a whole look. you know how i just love a good leopard print and i am loving all of the leopard print booties at shopbop. i adore the thicker heel on the joie "dalton" bootie and the stiletto heel on the joie "lina" leopard pumps. the thicker heel is perfect for more casual outfits, and the stiletto would look perfect with a black fitted pant for a night out. oh and leopard goes with everything! while we're talking about goes with everything - nude does too. i love a nude color bootie for blondes and brunettes with lots of golds in their hair. the nude like the cognac will balance out the whole look. and the chic black pair. nothing beats a beautiful black pair of booties to polish off any look. pair the madewell booties with black tights and a skirt for the perfect fall look. but until then tell me how you plan on rocking this great trend.

1. oh buddy, i sure adore this floral printed suit. for what occasion you ask, hmmm i guess i'd say a girls night out would be perfect for it and these too.

my favorites: j.crew fall 2014

1. adorable star printed button down.

2. these zipper pants are so cool, they will update any look. 

3. love the mirrored sunnies trend even into fall.

4. the delicacy of these rings remind me of the ones my favorite blogger wears, and i love them. they are perfect to wear everyday.

5. ever since planning our wedding i have been obsessed with soft shades of blue, and these earrings have me swooning. i'm thinking i need these for a wedding this fall, don't you?

6. this sweater had me at mixed fabrics and textures. this is one of those special pieces you can wear over and over again and never get tired of it.

13. need a great bag for fall, this baby is it. the horn handle is what this bag is all about. it's classic allow you to wear it all year round, not just for fall.

i'm pretty obsessed with rompers and jumpsuits right now. i think they are the perfect pieces to feel fun, flirty and dressy during these hot summer months. i love the pink printed romper to wear for a day around town then to a happy hour with girlfriends. the black jumpsuit is a great piece to wear out on a dressier date night with your sweetie. i love the flowiness of this piece and how flattering it is on any shape. the long sleeve floral romper is a super fun trend right now! i would pick one of these up to wear out on the town instead of the usual cotton dress. what i love about rompers and jumpsuits is their versatility, don't you? they are easy to wear (don't have to worry about hem lines flying up) and can be worn for day and night.

spring wants

first, i would like to welcome spring for finally arriving in kc. now, if she could just slow her roll a little bit. i feel like we went from wearing a coat (like a week ago) to summer dress (no cardigan) weather, real quick. 

now i'm obsessed with these pieces for spring. l.o.v.e. this "yes" shirt from j.crew (i know, predictable). but i think it is a great mantra to have, say yes. and then you can figure it out later. i'm throwing it back, by just needing a basic pair of black (and i want white too) chuck taylors, just for real casual days. right now my shoe collection doesn't really have a grey area between ballet flat and dog walking shoes. these pretty much fit the bill, right? oh and another classic, the dark skinnies. i just need a new fresh pair i can throw on with everything (right now, most of my jeans are just a wee bit faded and no one likes that). this clutch is adorable and perfect for any date night/girls night/ date night. love the pattern and the straw material - so presh for summer. oh, and these earrings, they are ridiculous and i love how huge they are. they are fabulous and i would totally wear all of this together!

kcfw: saturday night outfit

getting my outfit ready for the saturday night's shows was a fun and crazy, much like the saturday afternoon process. i like to pick my outfits the day of, based on one piece. i created this look around my leather dress. i just wanted to wear it a little bit differently. so, i layered my j.crew black and white gingham button down over it, and tied a knot at the waist to cinch it in. i added the j.crew statement necklace to add some sparkle. plus the sjp pumps and jcrew tan bag, and i was set. i wanted the look to feel elevated but not too fancy. and that's exactly how i felt in the outfit. 

you can do this too! no really, i promise. all you need to do is grab a fit and flare (always flattering) dress and pick your favorite button down (classic white or chambray work great) and throw it on , knot the waist and you are set. you can always grab some sparkle to dress it up too. aren't you ready to wear this outfit on a patio this spring? i know i am.
