the windy city

sweater: sheinside (old) but similar here | jeans: shopbop ℅ | booties: madewell | tote: windsor (sold out)| tank: vintage but similar here | necklace: j.crew factory (old) similar here | rings: vintage tiffany's and david yurman

spending time in chicago last weekend was absolutely amazing. we shopped til we dropped, attended an amazing blog conference, and explored the city. it was an amazing weekend to just enjoy life. don't you just love those moments when you can just look around and just be in awe. that's how this weekend felt. sure we may have gotten lost for a bit on the way to the john hancock building and walked past our final destinations a few times, but hey that's exploring a new city is all about, right!? for our last day in chicago i knew i wanted to wear something "practical" around down. so opted for my favorite jeans, vintage gray tank and fun geometric print cardigan. i accessorized the look with a glitzy statement necklace, gray suede booties, and my go-to black tote. i'm obsessed with the colors and print of this cardigan and loved getting to wear it around the windy city. it was just perfect for the fall temps. and these jeans - i practically live in them. they are a mid rise jean and the wash is to die for. they are so comfortable i should probably buy another pair because i ail be seriously upset if these babies ever fall apart. what are your favorite jeans, and do you think i'm nuts for wanting to buy another pair!? or do you totally agree the love buying two pairs too!?

gbs x chi recap

do you remember when i attended the go blog social conference back in march (and it totally blew my mind)!? well when i heard they were takin' it to chicago (a city i've really grown to love) i knew i had to go! so i purchased my gbsxchi ticket, plane ticket, got my girl lauren from classy and fab girl to, then hotel, and packing! haha packing!

i literally loved every speaker this year too! the started off with brush brews, delicious breakfast treats, and great giveaways too! the first speaker was martiza from beauty for bloggers and she gave some really amazing tips and tricks, my favorite was the not-so-complicated-complicated-looking knot braid. you literally pull your hair into two sections, braid them, and then twist them. done and done. i also loved getting to meet so many wonderful bloggers from chicago! it's so fun getting to connect and hear about why they started their blogs, and what they blog about, and how the heck we are (well basically all) working full time and blogging. it's a pretty amazing for sure. it was also pretty neat to meet danielle from the everygirl. all i can say is that girl is presh, inspiring, hard working, and kind. she was super honest and gave great advice and insight on how she does it all (with her wonderful business partner/ roomie alaina + wonderful team) to make the everygirl what it is. i loved when she talked about the specifics of what they did to launch the everygirl. they used their network that they had genuinely built to blow it up. and boy has it.

i can't wait to show you the amazing things that katie and i have been working on. there will be something super special happening on birthday. i'm so excited about it i could scream, but i won't, i just want to tell you now. but i won't, not just yet. but just know you're gonna love it! ps my bday is the 19th!

moments of chic

dress: piperlime ℅ | moto jacket: lucca (old) similar here | pumps: piperlime ℅ | bag: shopbop ℅ | tights: target (old) similar here| necklaces: jcrew (old) similar here and here | belt: banana republic (old) similar here | rings: tiffany's and david yurman

i'm kind of in love with this amazing greylin dress i just absolutely adore it. first, the tulip draped skirt and second the halter neckline are to die for. like my bday is this weekend (in case your forgot) and this baby needs to be worn on the town! also loving these fab suede pointed toe pumps too! i just love the way they feel when they are on. they've got a lot of cushion (that i wasn't expecting) but totally loved it, duh. btw they do run a half size small, so order a half size bigger than you normally would. i always wear a 9, so i was a little freaked when a 9.5 showed up on my door step. but they fit just right! love that! for this look i wanted to funk it up a bit, so i added my favorite bomber jacket, rebecca minkoff cross body turned clutch (took off the strap), leopard belt, and favorite long necklaces. i knew the long necklaces would pair nicely next to this dramatic neckline, and who can resist a little but of leopard, right? oh and i thought it would be fun to wear this look two ways, with and without black tights! tights are my favorite thing to put on with a dress in fall and winter, but also really liked the look with out the tights too! options baby! loving the weather right now and am ready to celebrate the royals baby! world series here we come! check out some great royals outfit here (see anybody you know)!? on that note - who is going and can i tag along (and bring my babe, of course)!?

shopbop: friends and family

shopbop: friends and family

i feel like this time of year is pretty fun and everything but the columbus day sales just sneak up on us and we're not really sure what pieces we are ready to buy just yet. ya feel me on this one? like it's fall(ish) and that's great for plaid shirts, blazers and tall boots. but you probably already have those things from last year, right? well i'm right there with you. although i haven't completely moved all my fall clothes over just yet (i know, i know, i'll do it soon i promise), and i know that i have some pretty great pieces i can wear this fall too (that's why it's good to invest in great pieces). so anyways, on that note i put together a few of the pieces that i am dying to wear right now. like right now (cough, it's my bday on saturday, cough). and i want to be wearing / owning all of these gorgeous pieces to kick it off right. i mean, you only turn 28 once. haha

after spending time in the windy city last weekend, i was loving all the capes, and just need to get my paws on some. you know how i'm addicted to leopard, and well, who doesn't just love the simplicity these clutches. oh and leather leggings, completely 100% obsessed. i want to wear them with loose cable knit sweaters all day every day. and what little lady doesn't love a great stud, love the deep plum of this pair. oh and speaking of colors, how to die are those fuchsia pumps. need them. a classic tan structured satchel is amazing. it's a great piece you can really carry all year long. oh this little zebra dish is just to cute. it can rest just on your night stand to hold your favorite rings. and these peep toe booties are pretty adorable and a fun piece for fall.

oh and you guys can get all of these pieces 25% (well ya know, some brands are excluded) right now during the shopbop family and friends event by typing in FAMILY25 at check out! so go get those pieces you've been thinking about. it's the best time!

bracelets: j.crew, stella and dot, j.crew (sold out) similar here | rings: david yurman, vintage tiffany's

if you follow me on instagram you might have noticed that i went to the go blog social conference in chicago over the weekend. it was an amazing weekend spent shopping until we literally dropped, eating lots of pizza, making new friends, and learning tons of great new blogging tips. i love getting to connect with so many women who are inspiring and are empowering each other to chase after their dreams and give advise and tips on how to do it. pretty amazing right!? this journey has been a blast and one of the craziest things i've done, and hearing wonderful testimonies and stories of what everyone has done to get where they are really encourages me to keep it going. don't you love when you can connect with others like that??

i wanted my outfit for gbsxchi pretty casual but cute. so i packed my trusty madewell booties, and polka dot button down, and now i don't even remember what i packed to wear on bottom. i totally scored this adorable mini wool skirt at j.crew on sale, and knew the color, length, and fit would be perfect for the event. i tossed on my go to arm party, and fun statement necklace, and my new favorite lipstick and i was ready to roll. i can't wait to wear this skirt with tights and booties too! oh, did you score and great deals over columbus day? you know how i love a good deal!

kcfw: sunday look

jacket: bcbg (old) similar here | top: ruby rouge similar here | jeans: loft | earrings: j.crew (sold out) | sandals: justfab (sold out) similar here

the vibe of the sunday show at kansas city fashion week is a lot like the vibe at work on a friday. it's much more chill and easy going than a monday (packed with meetings), ya know what i mean. so after rocking this fab look for the saturday show i wanted to wear something a little more casual but put together. i don't know what it is about fall, but i just always feel a lot more inclined to wear neutrals (like all the time). that's what i love about this look, the neutrals. the tan jacket, with a cream blouse, and black jeans, super simple and chic. which is exactly how i wanted to feel. and i loved that i could rock these sandals one last time before fall. oh and these earrings are killer (literally can only wear them for a few hours, but who cares), i love what a statement they make. i was drawn to these earrings because of the tortoise shell and the size of them, i mean, what in the world do you need these big of earrings for anyways. who am i kidding with the word need. these were a must. the same thing goes for these earrings as it goes for this look, i would totally wear it again and again and again. i could easily wear this look with boots and a scarf for a fun fall transition outfit. don't cha think!? what are your favorite neutral pieces to wear? and yes you can say black and white (it's what i was thinking anyways).

kcfw: saturday shows recap

yayyyy! the saturday show recap is here! i have to say i was pretty amazed by all the designers, but wm couture, lauren bander (duh), and l.o.d. stole the show for me. check out my favorite looks from their collections!

the wm couture show was inspired by men's wear and i adored every look. i love these cream pants with the suspenders, and pin-up inspired top. and the dress below i may have sent out a tweet about how i need to own this. i mean, that back detail is just amazing. it's so precious.

these gowns were impeccably tailored i couldn't get over it! the black dress with the sweet little red bow and buttons i just could't get over it. and the pockets and volume of the skirt - brilliant. oh and don't even get me started on how amazing these dream of a cream (weddingish) dress is below. it moved beautifully on the runway, and then bam, pleats of men's wear shirt fabric. totally unexpected, and i loved it. all in all it was a pretty fantastic presentation.

lb by lauren bander was amazing of course. i adored her parisian theme and loved the head bands and dark smokey eyes for each look. the tulle and maxi skirts, had to be my favorite pieces from her line. she has great style to pull together such great line like this.

see what i mean, i love this tulle skirt!!

now, i just need a place to wear this!

and the last show of the day was from another favorite of mine - l.o.d. the black and white looks with the perfectly mastered pieces were perfect on the runway. i want this black suit in a bad way. isn't it gorgeous!

i mean, aren't her designs simply amazing!

i loved getting to see such beautifully made pieces during the saturday show. i would wear any of these pieces in a minute. wouldn't you? i'm so glad they were inspired to create such gorgeous pieces that you can actually wear every day. maybe not how they styled the looks for the runway (but they are so gorgeous who cares) but you can definitely take pieces from each look and find a piece in your wardrobe you can wear to achieve an inspired look, from these looks. i'm inspired to wear my cream pants (normally worn during the holidays) with a crisp gingham shirt from the wm couture show. lauren bander has inspired me to wear more tulle and eye shadow for sure. but for an outfit, i love a great aline black skirt paired with a great gray sweater. and l.o.d. has inspired me to color block with my favorite colors, black and white. lol how do these looks inspire you? what look would actually wear?
