the big apple

Talk about an amazing city. I fell in love with this city when I was 14 years old when I ventured through it all with my mom, the summer before high school. It was the most amazing time filled with sight seeing to shopping. So I was elated when my in-laws invited me to tag along with them on a trip to NYC with my sister-in-laws conference.

We started with NY styled pizza, Central Park, and ended our first day with a Broadway show and Times Square. Our second day started with a ferry ride to see the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, on to the 9/11 memorial (which was beautiful and humbling), and then ended with a carriage ride around Central Park. Our third day was filled with shopping on Madison Ave. then onto Rockefeller Center with more shopping and meeting up with some amazing friends that drove in from Maryland. We made a trip back to Times Square and then headed to the Empire State building to the observation deck - the view of the city was beautiful. and went to dinner at a great place around the corner from our hotel. Our last day was shopping at Columbus Circle then on to the Love Statue (my bucket list) and then back home.

It was an amazing trip. The time flew by quick, but every minute was cherished. It's a city that makes me dream and want more. I can't wait to plan my next trip. What city inspires you?

you can take the girl out of oklahoma...

top: J.Crew | skirt: J.Crew | sandals: Target | sunnies: Ralph | watch: Michael Kors | bracelet: Stella and Dot
necklace: Etsy

"But you can't take the Oklahoma out of the girl."  Yes, I do live in Kansas City, and I absolutely love it! But, there is nothing like being back in OK. The rich sunsets of warm oranges mixed with cool blues, the whistling wind that's always blowing. It's a great place to be to recharge and gain perspective.

Kev and I made a trip back to OK to visit his family for Easter, and a family baby shower for Kevin's cousin Julie. We had a blast cooking and getting ready for the shower. It was a wonderful time to see everyone.

On the way into OK, I joking asked Kev about doing a photo shoot at the Oklahoma sign, and he loved the idea! I was so excited / nervous about hopin' out on the side of the highway. But, it was exhilarating and a lot of fun! I mean, what Oklahoman doesn't want to take a pic with this sign every time they drive by. haha.

So back to the outfit, the top I loved! J.Crew was having one their 40% sale promos going on, and a girlfriend told me she had ordered this top, and I had been thinking about it, so I ordered it too. Then we got them on the same night, and ended up wearing to work on the same day! This skirt is a great piece that I would love in any color! It's an easy piece that you can wear basically anywhere.

What regenerates you, and gets your mind back on track?

the cool blue hues

dress: francesca's | vest: Old Navy | booties: Old Navy | tights: Madewell | belt: J.Crew | scarf: J.Crew | purse: vintage | sunnies: J.Crew | rings: vintage turquoise, J.Crew, Silpada | bracelets: Mineral festival buy, J.Crewkate spade, francesca's

As winter is winding down and the flowers are starting to bloom, I wanted to pair my fall booties with my springy white lace dress. This time of year is the most beautiful to me, and it seems to go by in a flash. I'm excited to get outside and garden. The hubs and I have been working on changing the look of our house, and I'm excited to share the changes.

What makes you excited for spring?

Sunday morning best

blouse: BCBG MaxAzria old but similar here skirt: J.Crew factory shoes: Jessica Simpson purse: vintage but similar here watch: here

I love the romance behind getting to dress for church on Sunday mornings. I know I can be a little bit dressier than my weekly duds, and it's totally okay!:) I also like to wear brighter colors to spice up the dreary winter weather. You should try it!
