kc casual

i had the honor of shooting with sarah sweeney from one sparrow creative
and let me tell you what! this girl has some serious talent and passion for photography.
we met a few weeks ago and just couldn't wait to work together. i'm a huge fan of her friday style files and am excited to share that i am featured on her blog today! check out the shoot we did and let me know what you think!

sweater : J.Crew | jeans: Madewell | shoes: J.Crew Factory (0ld) | belt: J.Crew | purse: Tory Burch | necklace: J.Crew (old) but similar here and Nashelle | bracelets: J.Crew, David Yurman, and Lily Dawson | watch: Michael Kors (old) | rings: Lulu Frost, vintage Tiffany's, David Yurman | nail polish: Covergirl Lav-endure

for this shoot i wanted to put together a look that really showed who i am. on gussied up i try to keep it real and only wear outfits i would actually wear, but sometimes i just like to play dress up. so i kept this look pretty casual and jazzed up this j.crew sweater and boyfriend jeans with gobs of accessories. wearing more accessories (than usual) with a more casual look is a great way to feel more put together automatically.

go check out sarah's photography and mad skills here. and let me know what you think!?

also, leave a comment below about what you liked about today's post! i'd love to hear what you like and want to see more of!

date night outfit

the hubs and i had a great weekend, spent with lots of friends all over KC. i just love the cute little pockets of this town. we spend friday night out south at blue koi and saturday night down town at our wine club cellar and loft. oh and then a wonderful family brunch on sunday. it was definitely one for the books.

i posted the above outfit on instagram and thought it might be fun to give you the real details of the outfit. check out the links below.

shirt: jcrew (old) but similar here | skirt: piperlime | booties: madewell | necklace: ruby rouge | bracelet: lily dawson designs | purse: tory burch | tights: target

i just ordered the skirt from piperlime and was so excited to wear it. i wanted to show off my waist and therefore picked a fitted top to tuck into the skirt. then needed the go to black tights and booties to set the proportions, add a some gorgeous accessories and the look is complete.

what do you like to wear on date nights!?

master update

the hubs and i had a really fun weekend filled with an awesome saturday morning at the dog park, dinners with friends, and an fantastic family brunch on sunday. in between all the fun we ran a few errands and stumbled upon this adorable rug.

remember when we got our grown up bedroom set? i was so excited  to figure out the future plans for the colors for the room. i put together this set to try and see the plans come alive.

well i do have to say the hubs and i are very happy with the new rug. it feels like the room is definitely coming together.

we found this amazing rug at home decorators collections. i had never been into the store before. they have some really great pieces. it felt very pottery barn meets z gallerie.

this is the rug we bought, the euphoria area rug. amaze.

what do you think of the new update to our master?

have a great week!

my obsessions

i got that wonderful email from j.crew factory this week, letting me know they had new arrivals coming!

i loved the sneak peak and these are the pieces i am obsessing over.

the black pipping of this blazer makes it a bit dressier (than any other white blazer) and easier to wear with more pieces. this sleeves top i loved with these pants. i like the casual feel of the chambray with the fun pattern of these pants. oh and these sandals, are to die for. so simple and classic, they will go with everything.  all of these new pieces can be worn together and with pieces you currently have in your closet.

okay, totalllllly in love with this dress. i love it at retail j.crew and never ended up getting it. so, thank goodness factory decided to produce it! the fabric is thick and fabulous, just like i remembered from retail. (i may have gone into shop today, and picked it up). i adore this necklace and these pumps with the dress, maybe for a wedding shower (the dress is a tannish ivory, don't worry).
i love the utility vest to wear with this dress to make it more casual feeling. i have a utility vest from old navy that i love. it's a great piece to throw on over a basic tee and your favorite jeans, it totally gives it a cool complete look.

ps - everything in store is 50% at j.crew factory. i highly suggest you go and check it out.

nyfw looks for you

i put together 10 looks from may favorite nyfw shows just for you.

the badgley mischka show was exactly what i wanted to see for a ready to wear fall presentation. rich fabrics and fur. fabulous.

the j.crew presentation was great for fall.
i picked the looks below and created ways to wear the looks now.

i really dig the neutral pattern mixing of the kate spade new york presentation.

this marissa webb look is killer. i love how dynamic it is. the layering is on point and makes sense for real life, not just the runway.

the silhouette of this oscar de la renta dress is just fabulous. i adore the polka dot print and how it makes this design feel more approachable and girly.
i picked some great polka dot pieces that are great for everyday wear.

i know the overall feel of this vera wang look is super punky. but i really couldn't help but laugh when i saw it. "you bug me", i mean when haven't you thought that about someone. it kills me. and i love it.
i put together a much nicer look below. what do you think?

it's a super impractical cape in the most gorgeous colors. i died. i picked apart the colors and created a look for you to wear any day.

this zac posen dress is simply impeccable. the exaggerated bust line, pleating, and high low hem - simply amazing. i pulled together pieces that can give you this look, but not the stares. haha

there you have it! 10 looks from nyfw just for you. i hope you can see how to wear these looks now and into the fall.
