glamping

button shirt: gap (thrifted) similar here and here | tee: vintage similar here | leggings: bcbgeneration (old) similar here and here | shoes: dsw | sunnies: ralph | necklaces: nashelle, stella and dot

so for labor day i got the chance to go to minnesota and hang out with my husband, in-laws, friends, and their families! so fun right! we drove up to minneapolis on friday and stayed the night after spend a good part of the night hanging out with the hubs and my friend's family. the next morning we (the hubs and the in-laws) headed to duluth to hike up gooseberry falls. they were absolutely gorgeous and loved getting to experience them with my love and his parents. it was pretty cool up there so i wanted to pack some light layers for our hike. i layered on my favorite vintage sleeveless sweatshirt over a army green gap button down, i may have bought for my husband, but kept for myself. haha. i picked up these new balance shoes from dsw just for the trip. sorry to report, but this girl just didn't really have the right shoes for a hike (my dad would do a hard eye roll here). i mean don't get me wrong i have my gym shoes, and shoes i wear into the gym, and converse all stars. but i knew that i needed a new pair for comfort and longevity for our labor day weekends' plans. and i'm obsessed with them. super comfortable - i try and wear them whenever i can now. what do you think about my look? would you wear this on a hike? i'd love to know:)

voltaire affair

maxi: bcbgeneration (old) but similar here | blazer: bcbg (old) but similar here | pumps: bcbgeneration (old) but similar here | clutch: bcbg (old) but similar here | necklaces: nashelle and monogram | bracelets: j.crew, stella and dot, and j.crew

the hubs and i went out with a great couple this weekend to a wonderful restaurant voltaire in the west bottoms. it was incredible, delicious apps, kangaroo, and signature cocktails,  yes i said kangaroo. and yes, i ordered it. i couldn't believe it was on the menu, so i had to try it. i mean, it was too crazy not to try. and it was delicious! would you ever try it?

we then headed over to cellar and loft and opened up a couple of bottles of wine from our locker and chatted the night away on the patio.

don't you just love nights like those? i sure do!

camo my way

shirt: gap (old) but similar here | jeans: baldwin

i hope you all loved having andrea from style my way on gussied up yesterday! she is such a sweet heart and i love getting to know her. i love her outfits and sense of style. if you missed her post it's over here, and if you haven't been to her blog yet, you gotta check it out. she puts together great looks and re-works items she's already worn before, so you can see another way to style it - awesome!!

i created this look for a casual day look for work. i like to wear a dark pair of denim jeans to keep a casual look polished and paired with a great knit tee. personally i'm not a huge fan of camo - but i just adored this top with a stripe sleeve. i added the leopard belt and gobs of jewels to add some glam and sass. and how excited is everyone to wear sandals! yay spring!!

i've got another great post for tomorrow! come back and see who i want you to meet!

get styled

dress: ruby rouge | wedges: old navy | necklaces: nashelle and stella and dot | earrings: stella and dot | bracelets: stella and dot (yes, it's a necklace and i just wrapped it) and stella and dot

there is a ton i want to cover in today's post. first, i found this adorable dress at ruby rouge during the spring event last month. i'm obsessed with the color and the silhoute. i've worn it every chance i've had. i just love the flattering cut.

second, i went to my first stella and dot party (i know, i know, i've loved their designs for years too). my good friend ally from the wedding prep (friends from high school and pledge sisters too) is a stylist for stella and dot and invited me to come to a party she was hosting. i was really excited to go, i couldn't wait to see what pieces she would have. i loved getting to see all the gorgeous pieces up close and play dress up. it was a lot of fun to see what all the other girls were loving and trying on. i couldn't help myself, so i jumped in and recommended pieces for each girl. (i come by it honestly). but i had the hardest time trying to figure out what pieces i had to take home (trust me my wish list is loooong). but in the end i wanted to grab the jacinthe bracelet and the cheryl drop earrings. i'm most definitely going to host an event in kc - please let me know if you would like to join! i think they are so fun. girls, jewels, and drinks. sounds perfect to me!

third, the shoes. i mean i literally gasped for air when i saw them in stores. i then tried to wear them with outfits i totally didn't, but wanted too. i was obsessed right from the get go. i mean, they look exactly like the metalic wedges from j.crew, but are only $26. i had to get 'em. and i love them! they are now live online and you can click the link above to ship them to you, if you don't have time to go out and get them. i love how they make any look chic. so simple and gorgeous.

pepperologie event outfit

dress: gap (old but similar here) | jacket: bcbg (old, but similar here) | booties: madewell | purse: j.crew (old, but similar here) | sunnies: ralph | tights: j.crew | necklace: nashelle | bracelets: j.crew, j.crew, lily dawson, charming charlie's, and vintage | rings: vintage and david yurman | earrings: vintage

i was so excited to get to spend a sunday afternoon with one of my favorite bloggers, jessie from style and pepper, at her pepperologie event. we had an absolute blast and i felt so comfortable in this sweatshirt dress and green army blazer. i love the flattering cut of the fit and flare style (it is flattering on any body type). it was still a bit chilly outside, so i paired with look with my black tights and gray suede booties. it's the best way to stay a bit warmer in these chilly spring months. how ready are you, for spring, to really begin!? i know i am. i'm ready to wear fun spring dresses (without the tights) with sandals and a tan!

minnesota blues

jacket: joe fresh | chambray: j.crew | pants: faded glory | booties: madewell | purse: tory burch | necklaces: nashelle and dogearred | socks: j.crew

so you might remember a quick trip, the hubs and i took, to minnesota, a few weeks ago. while we were in minneapolis, kev and i got to explore the city (we froze, just a little bit) and act like the locals. we had a juicy lucy at matt's and had to shop at the mall of america (duh).

i wanted to dress in layers, so i grabbed my favorite chambray and this amazing tweed jacket (i loved how it reminded me of a chanel jacket), along with the best black stretchy pants (seriously, i know they are from wal-mart, but they are awesome)! with a great grey madewell bootie and the outfit is complete. how your favorite pieces to keep you warm and cute!?

the hubs and i had a great night out in the river market  area. it's basically our go-to spot, and i love it. it's a great neighborhood full of great eats and drinks.

i just realized that i've got this outfit on repeat (well the bottom half). and i'm cool with that. do you have those pieces that you will always keep at the front of your closet? the ones you always can rely on to make you feel good, me too! these are my pieces. a great pair of dark denim and leopard pumps, and change out the top, and i am good to go. what are your favorite go to pieces.
