relaxed chic

sweater: Target but similar here | pants: BCBG Max Azria but similar here | shoes: J.Crew | sunnies: Karen Walker | ring: BCBG Max Azria

As of late I have been getting 'back to the basics.'  I've been more inspired by the classics. They are the best go to pieces. I love these tuxedo pants - I always feel chic and put together when I have these on. This boyfriend sweater is a great piece to wear with dressy pants like these or even slouchy boyfriend jeans for a more casual look.

stripes and dots

top: vintage but similar here | blazer: Target | jeans: Madewell last seen here | shoes: BCBGeneration | hat: Target but similar here | belt: vintage J.Crew but similar here

Lately I have been feelin' the basics. I am loving my white jeans more and more. I have been drawn to more navy, black, gray and tan combos. This look is such a fun pattern mix. I love mixing up polka dots and stripes. There's always something about mixing prints in the same color tones that gives a look a pulled together feeling.

new hairs

top: J.Crew | skirt: BCBG MaxAzria  | shoes:old from Target but similar here | necklace: etsy

As I showed you guys yesterday - I've been wanting to go red from these gorgeous pictures. The rich red color feels a little fall to me, so I grabbed some pieces to wear now that I thought would be great transition pieces. The black and white gingham is a great classic that I highly recommend anyone buying. This skirt I found this weekend for a steal! It will be great with fitted sweaters, tights, and boots this fall.

What are you excited to wear this fall?

becoming pepper potts

 via

So, I have been feeling the itch to go red for a little while. I found all these gorgeous images on Pinterest. They feel like a great transition for fall, do you think!?
I texted my awesome hair gal a few of the pics to see what she thought and asked her "What do you think? Can we do this!?" And she was totally on board! I was so excited!

I hate to leave you hanging, but, tomorrow you will see the new do:) Oh and I got a new nick name from the new due - Pepper Potts, and I don't hate it.

mix up

shirt: old J.Crew but similar here | skirt: old J.Crew but similar here | heels: BCBGeneration but similar here | watch: Michael Kors but similar here | earrings: J.Crew but similar here | ring: J.Crew but similar here

This look was inspired by the cooler weather we have been feeling in KC.  I'm excited for the leaves to turn and the pumpkins lattes to enjoy. You can pair a stripe knit with a navy skirt - the skirt can be cotton, wool, or lace.

How would you mix stripes and textures?

the real life jasmine

Hello G.U. readers!

I talked my sweet friend Laura into being on the blog today. She wore this awesome outfit to work, and I died, and knew I had to have it on the blog. I mean, how cute is she!?

First all, I am loving the 'tude and second, the pants, amazing. Oh, and those shoes...stop it! I'm obsessed. She is killing it.

Below there are links to her gorgeous pieces.

scalloped chev

blouse: Made | pants: J.Crew | heels: J.Crew similar here | earrings: etsy | bracelets: BCBG MaxAzria, Kate Spade, and Charming Charlies

This look was created around this wonderful top. A friend at work wore it, and I almost fell out of my chair when she walked in. A little over the top, maybe, but I mean I just love it. The scallop edge paired with the chevron stripes. Love. This beauty is now only $17.99 - insane! I paired this top with my favorite classic cropped black pant - the J.Crew Minnies. If you don't have a pair, I highly recommend that you go get a pair. They are great with a silk blouse and pumps, or a tee + cardigan and ballet flats.

What are your current obsessions?

These pieces are classic. The crew neck cotton sweater and the a-line pleated midi skirt are great pieces you can buy in any color to wear over and over again.

What classic pieces are your go to's?

summer classics

chambray: J.Crew | jeans: Madewell | necklace: J.Crew | purse: J.Crew but similar here | shoes: Marshall's but similar here | watch: Michael Kors but similar here

This is a great outfit for every day. The chambray shirt and white denim are both a great staples for every wardrobe. You can wear this look on a casual Friday or a fun night with the girls. All you'll need to do is change up the accessories. For the last few days of summer you can wear a statement necklace and brown sandals.  For fall, tall tan boots with a printed scarf,  would finish this look off just right.

gussied up styling

This weekend I had the pleasure to style my lovely client Stephanie. She works for a creative agency in KC, she's super involved in Junior League and is getting married next summer. Super exciting! So needless to say, she is super busy, and wanted help creating more outfits.

We went through her wardrobe (which was really awesome) to edit out pieces for her to sell, toss, and tailor. We created looks with pieces she already owned, to rework her pieces to get new looks. We then went through the Gussied Up Wardrobe Checklist, (if interested check  this out!) and checked of the basics, and talked about the pieces she needs to complete her wardrobe. It was an absolute blast!!

Below are outfits we put together:

Look 1: Casual Day
Blouse, boyfriend jeans, tan sandals

Look 2: Work Day
Ruffle top, denim jacket, lace skirt, skinny belt and tan pumps

Look 3: Night Out
Bright top, boot cut denim, nude pumps

Look 4: Holiday for Day
Sequin dress, black blazer, tights, boots, and skinny belt

 Look 5:
Decorative tee, white button up, gray jeans, and tan sandals

See what I mean, the girl has great stuff!

Below are the before and afters of her closet. We organized her closet to be easier "to shop." Her tops, skirts, pants, and dresses flow from shortest to longest lengths, and from warm to cool in color.

I'm grateful  to work with Stephanie on revamping her wardrobe. We had a fun morning spent reworking her clothes and creating new looks. I can't wait to see what she adds to her wardrobe and to hear how happy she feels is her clothes again!

If you would like help to create new outfits, clean out your wardrobe, or want help with new pieces for your wardrobe, please email me. We can create a package that works best for you!
