The hubs and I got to enjoy a wonderful weekend full of family and friends. We traveled all around KC and ended the weekend at Fogo de Chao for KC Restaurant Week with a few of our friends. It was such a blast to get all "gussied up" for a night out on the plaza. What makes you feel all "gussied up"?

pink + peplum

cardigan: J.Crew Factory peplum top: Anthropologie jeans: Madewell but similar here scarf: J.Crew but similar here shoes: J.Crew belt: Urban Outfitters but similar here rings: vintage, J.Crew bracelets: J.Crew, similar here

I don't know about you, but this girl is getting an itch for spring. So I dragged out my favorite white jeans from summer. I've been obsessed with this peplum top since summer and thought I put it with leopard to give the look a little more depth. The color of this scarf is so bright pink it's got my brain thinking about Valentine's day. Hmm home cooked dinner, or a fancy night out on the town?

What are your plans for Valentine's Day?

tin man shoes

jacket: J.Crew but similar here knit tee: J.Crew pants: J.Crew shoes: Jessica Simpson but try these Steve Madden

This was an was an outfit I wore to work and couldn't wait to wear it again. The blazer is still available in stores and I would highly recommend going to pick one up. It looks like tweed on the outside, but feels like a sweatshirt on the inside. Magic. It'a a woman's dream. The Minnie pants are a favorite of mine. With the classic fifties hem they dress up an denim look in a flash. The grey and white stripe tee is a favorite that I love to wear with everything.

black watch

shirt: J.Crew vest: Old Navy skirt: J.Crew tights: BCBGeneration boots: Steve Madden necklace: etsy belt: Anthropologie

Black watch is a fav of mine. It's great for fall and winter. I want winter to last just so I can keep wearing it:)  The length of the crinkle city mini is great for making a look more casual than a classic pencil skirt. A wedge black leather boot is great for any day full boucin' around town.

What's your favorite casual day outfit?

brocade + pink

blazer: J.Crew blouse: vintage J.Crew but similar here pants: J.Crew shoes: vintage J.Crew but similar here

As the holidays wind down I didn't want to give up the rich fabrics yet. I wanted to show a way to wear some sparkle in an everyday outfit. This camel blazer is a staple that is great no matter the season. It goes well with other neutrals and brights.

What's your favorite staple in your wardrobe?

everyday love

denim jacket: Mavi similar here tee: J.Crew skirt: J.Crew shoes: Vintage similar here and here purse: J.Crew similar here and here monogram necklace: etsy bracelet: J.Crew watch: Michael Kors nails: Face in mint and U O polish

Mixing casual with dressy is an easy way to make an every day outfit a lot more interesting. The contrast of the wool skirt with a knit tee is a pairing that I love. Adding sass with the metallic heels and is balanced by adding the denim jacket is a great plus.

What are you going to mix up?

chevron love

top: old J.Crew but similar here  pants: LOFT shoes: J.Crew scarf: old J.Crew but similar here and here purse: old J.Crew but similar here sunglasses: old J.Crew but similar here bracelets: J.Crew

I fell for the top back for my birthday and it always makes me feel super feminine when I wear it. I just found this great scarf after Christmas from J.Crew and I couldn't resist. I love the grey with white polka dots and thought it would look great with the tan and teal of the top. I wanted to add a pop of color with this outfit, so I added these great pants from Loft. I'm not really a pants kind of gal, but I really love these. I'm thinking about getting some more in more colors. These shoes are my favorite flats, and can dress up even the most casual outfit.

Go out and mix it up.

dots dots dots

shirt: vintage J.Crew but similar here skirt: vintage J.Crew factory but other options here and here shoes: old Urban Outfitter but similar here and here necklace: gift from my grandmother but similar here and here and here bracelet: vintage J.Crew but similar here and here ring: vintage J.Crew but similar here and here purse: vintage find but similar here

Print mixing is a fun way to re-work your wardrobe. I like to mix prints that are in the same color family. I usually keep cool colors with cool colors and warm colors with warm colors this way the patterns have something to keep them ground, so they can make sense together.
