summer time jewels

dress: target | denim jacket: vintage | sunnies: ralph | earrings: j.crew factory | wedges: bcbgeneration (old) but similar here | necklace: nashelle

how happy are you that summer is finally here!? i know i sure am! with the temps heating up all i've been wanting to wear are fun and flattering dresses. so when i found this adorable dress at target last week for $17, i just had to have it. i love the bright pink stitching on the chest and how loose and flowy it is. it's a great piece to toss on and go! i bought it to wear to my stella and dot brunch on saturday. and man was i glad it did. it was easy to move around and play host in.

the morning was full of friends, mimosas, mini chicken and waffles, and tons of baubles. it felt so great to have all my girlfriends over to chat! hosting my first stella and dot party was a blast and getting to have an old friend see kc for the first time was pretty special too!

happy monday everyone!

bows on toes

top: j.crew factory | skirt: j.crew factory | sandals: j.crew | bag: j.crew (old) similar here | necklace: nashelle, j.crew | earrings: tory burch | rings: david yurman and icing

one of my dearest friends got married last weekend, and i couldn't be happier for her and her groom. they are just so perfect for each other. the bride and i lived together in the phi mu house at osu and became inseparable, well okay now she lives in tulsa and i live in kc, but you know what i mean. so i felt pretty honored to get to stand by her side while she married the perfect man for her. he gets that she will always be called snoop and will always love kanye more than him (no seriously), this is real. oh and if 'don't stop believing' comes on - he best turn that up. anyways - real life sure has a way getting in the way sometimes, you know what i'm saying? and it felt great to live it up and celebrate two really wonderful people. every weekend or day for that matter should be lived that much. don't cha think?

blonde midi

tee: j.crew | skirt: h&m (old) but similar here| belt: j.crew (old) but similar here | flats: j.crew | necklaces: nashelle and j.crew | earrings: sorrelli

so i updated my look for summer by going blonde! like crazy. i felt inspired by stephanie sterjovski. she is for sure one of my favs on instagram. her natural dark brown now fades to this awesome blonde (obsessed, i know). anyways i texted a pic to my hair stylist traci (she's fab) and said can we do this!? she was totally game. so she worked her magic and turned me into a brand new blondie for summer.

i do have a little confession. the blond streaks in the front..kinda freaked me out. just a little too much all at once, you know what i mean!? she traci totally hooked it up and had another stylist darken my bangs just a bit (more pics to come soon, don't worry). to create a more gradual effect - and i have to say i'm pretty obsessed! what do you guys think? can you dig the blonde? ps i finally got to wear my midi skirt again! love this thing! and if you don't have a gray tee shirt - go get one. it is the one piece that will go with ever bottom you own. no seriously. i have a pathetic amount of gray tees - i just can't get enough.

i hope your having a great week!

kc blogger meet up

top: j.crew | jeans: madewell | sandals: old navy | purse: tory burch | earrings: kendra scott | necklace: nashelle | bracelets: j.crew, david yurman (old)

last week i had the pleasure of attending my first kc blogger meet up event at anigoni winery in the west bottoms. i had no idea such a chic little place - let alone winery was tucked away in my vintage furniture scores - hideout. the event was so much fun! the board gave away what felt like a million goodies. i mean, seriously gorgeous thank you notes from tiny prints, two bag designs from maddy nash, tulip gift card, credit to design your own may book, the lovely floral arrangements by emmy-ray, and yummiest bites by urban table.

it's always so great to catch up with all my sweet blogger friends in kc. the network here is awesome! loved getting to meet annie from history and high heels, lauren from classy and fab girl, and andrea from style my way. it's so fun to hear what projects everyone is working and i adore getting to bounce ideas off of each other too!

can't wait for the next one!

blvdia

blazer: bcbg (old) last worn here and similar here | top: standard (old) but similar here | shorts: vintage | sandals: nicole (old) but similar here | bag: tory burch | necklace: nashelle | sunnies: ralph

i hope everyone had a fun filled weekend! this weekend kicked off with a great new event in kc - boulevardia! this was the first year for the brewery to kick this off! boulevardia is a beer, music and food festival located in the west bottoms. all the fun started on friday and went until sunday. yes, father's day and no that wasn't an accident. genius planning right!?

anyways, i attended the event with a fun new group of girls! we got our wrist bands and tokens and checked it all out. the west bottoms was a perfect location and there were hidden little treasures everywhere you went. they had tons of beer tents with different varities at every tent. food trucks galore! great bands played all night and the ferris wheel was a popular place to be (i was maybe a little too chicken to go on it :). and of course the wonderful west bottom shops where open too!

the weather was absolutely perfect and so was the night. i can't wait to do it again next year!

cheers!

stella and dot brunch

i feel like this summer is speeding by and i wanted to have an excuse to get everyone together  and hang out. plus, i wanted my girlfriend ally to get up to kc, so we decided to combine two wonderful things, brunch and stella and dot! now i'm hosting my first stella and dot party and you're invited

i went to my very first stella and dot party a few months ago in dallas, remember this look with the gorgeous stella and dot jewels? i was really impressed with the designs and presentation of all the gorgeous pieces. you might have noticed the two pieces i picked up from that party (well had them shipped to me, but you know what i mean).  the first piece was the cheryl drop earrings and wore them on easter with my midi skirt. and the second piece i grabbed was the jacinthe bracelet  that i wore to voltaire in my color blocked look.

i'm really excited to host a good party (i mean brunch), with a great friend and help style you and just hang out! now check out the pieces i am now obsessing over! i mean, everything is so gorg! what do you think i should get next?

chicago casual

top: j.crew factory| cardigan: j.crew | shorts: j.crew | sunnies: ralph | purse: tory burch | necklace: nashelle | sandals: chaco

the hubs and i were fortunate to join our youth group on a fellowship trip to chicago last week! we went last year for the first time to celebrate our anniversary and jumped at the chance to do it again. we accompanied about 30 youth and our church's interns and ministers for the weekend. we jumped all over downtown, starting at the bean, blue man group, the navy pier, a speed boat ride (i got drenched from head to toe, pretty hysterical), china town, and shopping! (of course). i have to say it was pretty intimidating getting to be in charge (along with the interns) of all the girls on the trip, navigating downtown chi-town seemed to be quite the task. but we made it back to the church just in time to scarf down some chicago style pizza (amazing). i have to say it was a pretty amazing trip and getting spend time with our youth and dig deep into engaging our communities around us was pretty inspiring. plus i gave a sermon (talk about nervous) about how to live in a dead world. definitely a bold topic (hence the nervousness) but i shared how i deal my stress and the worries i have and how to focus on the good. it's all good after all, right!?

i hope this encourages you to step out side your comfort zone and do something that will help you grow.

ps - thanks claire for taking my photos for this post. great job!
